Mmmm Christmas… Is the only time of the year where it's acceptable to eat cookies and panettone with your morning coffee. (cupcakes too…) wink
But what about a perfect Christmas dinner? it' is always about wonderful food and even more wonderful family. But personally I think ambiance is a huge part of making Christmas feel special. It just wouldn't be the same without those twinkling lights and sparkling tinsel. Christmas centerpieces are a great place to start, so when I was planning a family dinner I found this brilliant idea….
Ginger Christmas Tree Gluten Free Cookies Candle Holder…. phew, only with the name and I already tired, but they are super easy to make and they are so good… So let's do it!
Here is the recipe:
2 1/2 cups all purpose gluten free flour (I used namaste)
1/2 teaspoon sea salt
1 teaspoon baking soda without aluminum
2 tablespoon ground ginger
1/2 cup grapeseed oil
1/3 cup yacon syrup (you can also use molasses)
1/2 cup honey
1 tablespoon lemon zest
Preparation
In a large bowl, combine the gluten free flour, salt and baking soda with the ginger.
In another bowl, combine the oil, yacon, honey and the lemon zest.
Mix the wet ingredients with the dry.
Wrap dough in plastic wrap; refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or until firm.
Unwrap dough, on a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough. Cut out the trees and circles. You can also cut out circles in your Tree in a random pattern (so the light canned shine through)
Bake for 400 for 7 minutes aprox.
To make the candle holders Pipe Icing onto the bottom of each tree, set tree on a round base and for additional supper, pipe another along the bag of the tree. Prop trees with a small glasses until icing has set. Let stand overnight to dry completely.
And when you are ready place a votive candle or tea light on the base of the holder behind the cookie tree…

I love this whimsical, Christmas decoration idea-- it's sure to make your guests let out a chuckle when they see it. It's also inexpensive, adorable, and best of all... deliciously edible. A great decoration, or an addition to your dinner table.
Have a wonderful day!!
