Brother Knows Best

Written by my friend Teodoro Martin

My brother knows everything and he is literally the best advice giver I’ve ever met in my entire life. If I need advice on anything, from which lawnmower to buy to which Directtv deals to look into I go to Tom – he’s just that smart. He says it’s because he spends a lot of time online and looking at the paper to find out what sales are going on but I suspect he’s got a bit of a photographic memory. He’s always been really good at stuff like geography and math and those are the things I struggle with more. My mom thinks it’s just because boys are better at stuff like that but who knows, maybe one day NASA will study Tom and find out he’s some kind of genius or something! All I know is that it’s nice to have someone in the family who gives awesome advice and doesn’t mind doing it, especially when you’re approaching a new stage of life like I am. Thanks, Tom, for all the help you’ve given me!

One of the things I love most about fall and winter are PUMPKINS… You can decorate a pumpkin,  paint a pumpkin, bake a pumpkin or drink it…

Today I have to share this recipe: PUMPKIN PIE MILKSHAKE!!
You should try this milkshake because is so smooth and creamy that willl quench the thirst of yours trick or treaters…

You will need a good vanilla ice cream and don't forget to leave it on the counter for about 10 minutes to soften up a bit, some delicious cookies (I used ginger cookies but you can use whatever you have available) milk and some spices... This milkshake was literally so easy to make, you just need to throw everything together and use your blender. Easy and delicious, what a great combination... This is a great seasonal treat.

Ingredients
2 cups vanilla ice cream
1/4 cup milk
1/2 cup pumpkin puree
vanilla to taste
cinnammon to taste
2 tablespoon brown sugar
2 tablespoon ginger cookies (for decoration)

Directions:
Blend everything together.
Serve garnished with the ginger cookies and a bit of cinnamon

Well.... Hope you have a great wednesday!

Shoe love is true love {my life, my stile in five minutes tuesday}

Today I want to write about one of my passions: SHOES

                      via pinterest

I really  think the shoes are an essential piece  in your everyday look.  A good pair of shoes can manage any look, no matter what you wear, if the shoe is perfect, everything is perfect. And believe it or not sometimes just wearing the right shoes is the boost we need to really step into your very own power.

My style of work requires me to be always dressed very fashionable, in heels and cute dresses but a in my spare time I use flat shoes, cute but flat because childrens and high heels is not always a good mix.

Here are some photos of my favs from my pinterest....

Flourless Gluten Free Chocolate Cake

                                            Smitten Kitchen

Yesterday, I decided to whip up something yummy for my little ones and made a delicious Flourless Gluten Free, Sugar Free Chocolate Cake. This cake is seriously amazing… You have to try it!!

Ingredients:

120 gr High Quality Dark or Semi Sweet Chocolate
(pure cacao is gluten free)
200 gr Ghee or Earth Balance Buttery Spread (I used homemade Ghee or you can use Regular Butter if you don't mind the casein.
200 gr Xyliton (You can use sugar if you don't want to make it sugar free)
6 eggs
180 g Almond Flour

Directions

Preheat oven to 325 degrees.
Combine the chocolate and 2 tablespoons of Ghee in a double boiler, stirring until you get a completely melted and smooth mix. Let it rest for a five minutes
Place some parchment paper on the bottom of a pan. You will also want to generously grease with  some ghee  the pan.
Beat the six yolk eggs with the xylitol or sugar. (Around five minutes)  one at a time, whisking after each addition.
mix the chocolate/ghee mixture with the xylitol/egg mixture. and whisk until combined. Then add little by little the almond flour and whisk.

In other mixing bowl, beat the six whites on high with an electric mixer until stiff peaks forms. Then gently fold eggs white mixture into the chocolate mixture until combined
Pour the mixture in the prepared pan and bake for aprox. 45 minutes  at 300 degrees
Let it cool in the counter and then in the fridge before you release it from the pan.
ENJOY!!!

Anyone home??

A little guide"ish" things to do in Miami {Going out Friday}

I've been thinking about what would be a really nice thing to do for those who live here in Miami , and also of course  for those who don't but are thinking that maybe one day they will come and visit our "paradise", and I realized that most of us, domestic and imports alike, need a little help in the having-a-good-time department.... you know, places to go, fun interesting things to do, so I've decided that I will write every Friday about this subject and have fun with it; I will be telling you about concerts in our area (or maybe somewhere else interesting) sharing names and reviews of local restaurants, art and expos happening nearby... Sometimes you find a place that it is a FIND, and  you know YOU MUST SHARE IT... So this post it's about that... and it will be updated every Friday!!  Of course I will be gladly accepting your help so please send me recomendations, ideas, restaurants reviews... etc.... I always check YELP, because their reviews come from real people but this will be different , think of it like a little guide"ish" of a little bit of everything that it's going on in the City... And for all of you out there, home and abroad it is my pleasure to say CHEERS and WELCOME TO MIAMI !!!

So let the fun begin !!!! First let me recomend every first Friday of the month for the Art in the Park Concert Series in Coral Gables. The FREE cultural event takes place every month at Ponce Circle Park, it is very summertime like but since our fall and winter are very mild it is a real pleasure to be outdoors enjoying ourselves. "City Beautiful" offers the best of the best the first weekend of the month: Food, Art, Music and great opportunities to socialize. Do both: Al fresco dining from a selection of Coral Gables restaurants at Giralda or Salzedo right under the Stars at the ART IN THE PARK!

If you have kids or just like to act like one then... you can't miss to go to the Miami Childrens Museum. Their motto of "Play, Learn, Imagine, Create" shines through in the wide variety of interactive exhibits that allow kids to explore and play with everything.

And if you are near Sunny Isles, then you MUST go to Caffe L'Attico... a true gem, this is a new version of the old one that was in Caracas -Venezuela back in the 80's, it was the place to see and be seen at the time and their food was amazing, well for our enjoyment they have opened right in our backyard, make sure you ask for Mireya, not only she will greet you with a beautiful smile and attitude but also she will make sure you are pampered to the extreme- The grilled pizza is a must, even as a shared appetizer, do not leave without having the prosciutto and rugola one, it is thin, light, crispy and flavorful... WOW.. I am spoiled forever!!!

My son is allergic to Gluten so the owner made sure everything that he ate was perfectly safe for him and my daughter had "Pizza and Fries" which IT IS INDEED an item on the kid's menu... what an awesome combination for a kid!!!

Another must is the pear dessert, it takes 15 minutes to make (yes they make it from scratch!!), so better order it up front, but the dish, however was worth de wait. It's a warm pear in a freshly baked crust and home made vanilla ice cream topped with creamy whipped cream... Yum, yum...
Cafe L'attico is located in 1700 Collins Ave, Sunny Isles Beach, Fl 305-944-2215

Chris Tucker is in town.... FUNNY!!!! At the Fillmore in Miami Beach this coming Saturday the 24th (oooops that's tomorrow) but last time I checked tickets were still available for about $80 bucks, click here

And if going to the movies is your thing go and enjoy whatever they are playing at Cinebistro' in the Dolphin Mall (very far for some), great food and wines, good service, overall a very nice experience.... a little pricy but worth it -

There you have it, my first edition of Going Out Friday Posts!!! See you next Friday and remember life is too short not to enjoy it to the fullest, just be safe while doing it, I'll meet you here next week!!

Good Bye Summer, Hello Autumn

via pinterest Pinned to Holidays
Well, hello, fall. I didn’t expect you to arrive so soon. You’re my favorite season, so, of course, I’m excited you’re here...but in Miami we don't really see Fall... we only feel that the hot weather is cooling just a little tiny bit..BUT We know it's fall and that's all matter... wink.
Pottery Barn
Today I am going to be so busy, have to go to brickell and then go to Miami Beach to meet with a client ... But I didn't want to leave with empty hands and I want to share some inspirational pictures that I found on Pinterest (my new crush)...

So hello Fall.. tell winter that go easy on us (HA! in Miami, are you kidding... is there anything close to winter in Miami? really???)  :)

By the way check out this cool pumpkin made with animal print... cool huh? I need to make one of these SOON!!!

Have a Happy Thursday!!! Please Enjoy your day

PS: Tomorrow I will put some guide"ish"  of nice things to do in Miami, Restaurants, places to go, keep reading
